Authentic Improvisation: Face Your Fear
- Dance is how we share our truth.The most genuine version of this is improvisation. It can sometimes be difficult to access our authenticity during improvisation. It's so easy to get stuck in our head, always thinking about what move to do next, does the audience like this, or did that look good??? Worse than these thoughts is fear! We feel the need to shelter ourselves and shy away from performing something unplanned. The key to improv is trust in your body. In this workshop we will move through exercises to help open up your mind and heart to allow your body to take over. Be challenged, be free, be authentic.
Courageously Raw:
- Expressing emotion and showing vulnerability on stage can be horrifying! But if you can let fear go and tap into your raw emotions the results can be breathtaking. In this intimate workshop, come explore your authenticity and the barriers that hide it. Learn how to practice emoting without imitation. Take possession of your own emotional cues to develop your personal performer spirit. Let's be courageous and allow ourselves to be raw!
Double Trouble Veil:
- Why use one veil when you can use two?! Double veil creates more dynamics but also more difficulties to your routine. Magnolia will teach combos, tricks, and techniques to make those double veils move the way you want! (Silk or chiffon half circle veils required)
Elegant & Fearless Floorwork:
- Get down on the floor in an elegant way! This workshop focuses on utilizing that usually forgotten dance space, the floor. Learn combos and positioning to keep your floorwork elegant and strengthening techniques for safe and strong descents and ascents. Be fearless in your floorwork! (Knee pads or yoga mat required)

- A new trend taking over Egypt?! Western music and dance influences?! Exciting club hits?! Yes! Mahraganat, sometimes called "electro chaabi" or "street shaabi", is quickly becoming the hottest music style in Egypt and beyond. This genre is characterized by electronic beats, fun lyrics, improvisation, and high energy. Come learn this new Egyptian dance style and be prepared to sweat because this isn't your momma's shaabi!
